What makes this even more extraordinary is the band hasn't released a new studio album since 2009 and they haven't been touring regularly for the last 2 years.
Since their one of their last official performances at the MTV video Music Aid Japan in Tokyo, Bill, Tom and manager David Jost moved to Los Angeles and continue to live there.
Bill and Tom have taken on a number of self projects in the last couple of years including fashion events, an Audi commerical, a Reebok shoe endorsement deal and, most recently, the pair were jury members for the the 10th season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar.
We are curious how the dedicated army of Tokio Hotel fans manage to stay ahead of the global marketing machines currently churning for One Direction, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga? Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga currently reside in the Top 5 Twitter accounts with JB on top. These two don't have fans, but rather a univeral consciousness surrounding their every movement.
There's still lots of time left in the Biggest Fan Category. Until November 8, we will watch to see if the David-like army of Tokio Hotel can hold up against the Goliath global supers.
